In the article "Mormon bishop with Samurai sword runs off attacker" by Brady McCombs he brings to light that in Salt Lake City, Utah, a stalker attacked his neighbor and he grabbed the closest weapon to him which is a 29 inch samurai sword. His son alerted him and called the cops, the suspect turned himself in about an hour later, frightened that the bishop would come after him again. Even if he didn't turn himself in the man memorized the suspect's license plate and had his DNA from chap stick that he dropped.

In this article something that surprised me is that a group of neighbors actually chased the suspect from the house. This is shocking because normally people just stay in the house and don't get involved but in this neighborhood everybody helped.

I think that if every neighbor helped each other out like these neighbors did it would be a much safer place. Before this I just thought that everyone worried about themselves but now I know that some neighbors care about each other.

I have a lot of questions about this article. One question is is this his first time stalking the lady or has he done it multiple times and this is the only time he got caught. Also how much time will he have to spend in jail or how much is bail for this. I could find these answers from searching the normal jail time and bail. Also I could find the other answer from reading a different version of the article maybe they would have it.

In the article "Time for a Raise" by Patricia Smith she brings to light that President Obama  is trying to raise the federal minimum wage around the country. There are a lot of supporters but also opponents to this idea. Some say this will hurt people because less people will be hired others say it will hurt the economy because people will have more money to spend when they go shopping.

In this article quotes are used by economists and government officials. Something that shocked me in this article is that with this new raise, workers would bring home an additional $3,500 a year. That's shocking because with that it could mean the difference between eating and starving.

I think this is a good idea for our country because it will help the economy and people who have struggled to make end's meet can get ahead. Before this I thought the minimum wage should be raised anyway because nobody could really survive and prosper with the previous minimum wage. I think it will help our economy rise and become stable now that people can actually afford to buy stuff from other companies.

When I was younger and got an allowance I only used to get $10 a week and couldn't really do much with it.      After I told them that it wasn't enough it was raised to $20 and I could do more. Now it's $50 and I can do a lot, I think just like I couldn't do much until the raise the workers will experience the same thing and now be able to do more.

                                                                 Sports Injuries
YOU have been playing a lot of tennis recently, and now you think you have tennis elbow.
Or a swimmer with an aching shoulder.
 A cyclist with sore knees.
A runner with pain in your heel.
Do you go to a doctor, or tough it out?
I think most folks should not go, because most general doctors don’t know a lot about running injuries.
If you want to continue to run, don’t see a doctor,” Dr. Musahl said.
Dr. Thomas Best said, every weekend after his usual 10-mile run, his knees are sore.
He is not sure why.
Lord knows what’s going on in there

I chose this article for my poem because I think it's been some controversy around injuries and sports and whether they should change the rules or not.
What my poem has to say about the article it's created from is it's a lot of things that can go wrong when playing sports. The point my poem makes is that no one actually understands completely what's going on with your body and many things go wrong that you can't get help for even though some people go through the same thing.
Creating a found poem was fun and a new challenge for me I never thought that I would do something like this. The way I went about doing this is find a topic that I know about. This process was hard at first but as I went on it got easier. I think it was worth creating because it taught me a new skill that I never knew before.

In the article "Women caught abusing seals cause great uproar" by Pete Thomas he brings to light that women have been taped abusing seals at a San Diego beach and the mayor is not happy about it. It was originally open to all but now will be closed overnight starting May 15th thanks to a rule proposed by the mayor.

Quotes in this article include quotes from the mayor Bob Filner and Larry Wan the founder of Western Alliance for Nature. Something that is shocking in this article is that pregnant seals were being abused and beaten by grown women. It's shocking because you would think they knew better than to stoop that low. This shows that people's values are getting lower and lower.

I think that this means people have to set higher expectations for themselves. I think that this is an important topic because it's animal abuse and San Diego might get a lot of heat for this and lead to a lower public image. A possible solution to this is to set up more security around the beach and have a tighter leash on their citizens.

This article made me wonder about a lot of things. It made me wonder if this happens to animals that are at the beach do they abuse their own pets. Also if their animals are treated so bad how about their children if they have any. These questions are the main things that I want to know. I could find these answers by looking at a different version of the article and it may have more insight to the story.

In "Slaughter of the Elephants" by Samantha Strindberg and Fiona Maisels, they explore the fact that elephants are being hunted for their expensive tusks which are made of ivory, ivory is an important mineral for making products. When the elephants are gone the region that they were in will struggle because elephants help the trees which help the entire forest.

The article includes quotes from people who believe in animals rights and the fact that they should not be killed. Something that was shocking is that people who but the ivory don't even know that they get it from killing animals. This is shocking because if you are buying something you should know where it comes from.

I think that the killing of elephants should stop. I think so because we need the elephants to help out the environment. Once they're gone the environment will suffer because the elephants won't be able to help trees grow. I think that it should be a law that retains people from hurting the elephants.

This article makes me think about a lot of things. One thing it makes me wonder about is if other species will eventually die out to and how it will affect the environment and ecosystem. Another thing is if people will actually care about animals dying out or if they just care about the stuff they can get from the animal. I could find these answers by googling laws about poaching and people's opinions.

In the article "Sisters in arms" by James Dao, he brings to light that women are about to be able to go in to combat along side the men. Also now the leaders can pick the best person for the job out of everyone, not just the men. This will lead to more success in missions because the best man or woman will always be on the job

In this article quotes are used by people of the army. Something that surprised me in this article is the fact that women weren't allowed to combat in war in the first place. This is shocking and surprising because they applied to help their country not just be support, so they should be able to do whatever is needed to help their country.

I think this is a great thing for our country and the way it's run. Now that this is happening, women are getting the respect they deserve, which means the country has come a long way. Before women couldn't even vote some 100 years ago, now they are highly respected. I think our country is becoming equal and everyone will be treated the same now.

This article has made me think about a lot of things in our country. One thing is since women are now allowed to participate in combat, are women around the country going to get more respect. Another thing is that women may start to be  more confident, but will people accept this new change ?

In the article "Historically Incorrect Canoodling" by Stephanie Coontz she brings to light and explains the fact that marriage used to be different as it used to be arranged by parents. Also that Valentine's Day was meant to not show your love, on that day Valentine was killed. It was a limit on sexual passion, now it's a time for sexual passion and romantic love.

In this article it has mainly facts and little quotes. Something that is shocking is that it was meant to represent not being with the one you love but no it's for that which is ironic. This is shocking because things normally do change but not to being the opposite, which is rare.

I think that it's a good thing that we use this day for love instead of hate like it was intended. If it was still the way they intended people wouldn't look forward to the day and stores would lose money because people wouldn't buy gifts which is bad for the economy what is already bad. With all this being said it's obvious that this is better for everyone.

This article makes me think about many things. One question is why would they make a holiday to celebrate someone's death. Was he really that bad of a person, what did he do to be hated by someone so much? I don't think that the explanation in the story is the truth, because for me it would take much more to hate someone so much.
